The Role
We're looking for an experienced Umbraco developer to join our technical team on a short-term 3-month contract. We're in a particularly busy period and need someone who can get stuck in from the first day.
You'll work on a mix of Umbraco upgrades and new development, all using the current LTS version, Umbraco 17. That includes upgrading existing client sites from older versions, building new features and components, integrating with internal and third-party services and APIs, and helping to get work through testing and release. You'll sit within our project teams, working alongside our project managers, developers and testers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Because of the timing, the team won't have much capacity to bring someone up to speed. You'll need to be comfortable picking up an unfamiliar codebase, working out how it fits together and asking sensible questions when you need to. In return you'll join a friendly, collaborative team at our modern offices in historic Leith or hybrid or fully remote working.
About You
We're after someone who has already done this work on live client projects. You'll have several years of experience as an Umbraco developer, including recent experience on the current version of Umbraco and on at least one upgrade from an older version. You'll also be comfortable with:
- C# and modern.NET, including ASP.NET Core
- Building and customising Umbraco sites, including document types, templates, custom property editors, composers, notification handlers and the Management API
- Integrating with internal and third-party services and APIs to extend website functionality and exchange data
- Working with Umbraco's backoffice extension model in the current LTS version Umbraco 17
- Umbraco Cloud and Azure hosting
- Git and build and deployment pipelines in GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
- SQL Server and Entity Framework Core
- Front-end basics in HTML, CSS and JavaScript or TypeScript, so you can work comfortably with our front-end developers
- Unit and integration testing with frameworks such as NUnit or xUnit

You'll have a "secure by default" mind-set and care about accessibility and performance. You'll be a clear communicator who is happy to work independently, ask questions early and keep the team up to date on progress. You'll need to manage your own time well and be able to prioritise when several things are happening at once.
