Responsibilities and Duties of the Senior Underwater Acoustics Scientist Role
Reporting to the Team Leader within the Research and Innovation Division you will:
- Lead the technical delivery of research projects, ensuring delivery to time, cost, and quality requirements.
- Support business growth activities through bid development, technical strategy creation, and solution development.
- Identify opportunities to exploit research outputs into future products and capabilities.
- Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary research programmes.
- Lead and coordinate small teams of researchers and technical specialists.
- Develop innovative solutions across a range of scientific and engineering disciplines.
- Communicate complex technical concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Analyse technical outputs and provide clear recommendations to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders to develop and deliver advanced technical solutions.
- Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to their professional development.
- Utilise scientific computing tools such as MATLAB and Python to support modelling, analysis, and research activities.

Professional Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Degree or PhD qualified in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Demonstrable experience planning, coordinating, and delivering research programmes.
- Proven track record of developing innovative technical solutions
- Experience using scientific computing software such as MATLAB, Python, or similar tools.
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
