We're now looking for a New Business Underwriter to join our award-winning team as we continue to invest in growth across this specialist market.

As a New Business Underwriter, you'll play a key role in driving profitable growth across our Care and Charity portfolio.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Underwriting and winning new business across the Care, Social Welfare, and Charity sectors
- Assessing submissions, reviewing claims experience, and evaluating risk exposures
- Producing competitive quotations whilst maintaining underwriting discipline
- Managing and delivering against individual new business income targets
- Building strong broker relationships and becoming a trusted market contact
- Supporting broker development activity, training sessions, and proposition discussions
- Working collaboratively with Distribution, Trading, and Operations teams
- Identifying market trends and opportunities to support future growth
- Acting as a specialist ambassador for Markel's Care proposition within the broker market
What we're looking for:
We're keen to speak with ambitious underwriters who are passionate about the Care and Charity sectors.
You'll ideally bring:
Essential
- Previous underwriting experience
- Care Insurance or Charity Insurance experience
- New business underwriting experience
- Strong commercial judgement and decision-making capability
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- A proactive approach to broker engagement and business development
We'd also love to see
- Existing broker relationships
- Experience presenting to brokers or delivering training sessions
- Social Welfare underwriting exposure
- Ambition to progress your underwriting career within a specialist insurer
