Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and commercially-minded individual to join our Financial Institutions (FI) underwriting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an existing underwriter with previous experience in FI, looking to take the next step into a more autonomous and visible underwriting role.
The successful candidate will support the underwriting and management of a portfolio of Financial Institutions risks, including banks, asset managers, private equity firms, insurance companies, fintechs, and other financial services businesses. You will work closely with senior underwriters, brokers, and other stakeholders to develop technical underwriting skills while building a strong understanding of the FI market.
Key Areas of Focus
- Underwriting new and renewal FI business within authority levels
- Analysing submissions, financial information, and risk exposures
- Building strong broker and client relationships
- Supporting portfolio management, profitability, and growth initiatives
- Collaborating with claims, actuarial, legal, and operations teams
- Participating in market meetings, presentations, and industry events
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following experience and competencies:
- Experience within underwriting, broking, account management, portfolio management, or a related insurance role.
- Current experience underwriting Financial Institutions risks, with a strong interest in developing further expertise within this specialist class.
- Exposure to Financial Institutions, Financial Lines, Professional Indemnity, D&O, Cyber, or other Specialty Lines business.
- Strong analytical, technical, and commercial capabilities, with the ability to assess risk, interpret information, and support sound underwriting decisions.
- Confidence to contribute ideas, challenge constructively, and actively participate in underwriting discussions.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to develop trusted partnerships with brokers, clients, and colleagues.
- A collaborative mindset and a willingness to work across teams to deliver the best outcomes for clients and SCOR.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Curiosity, initiative, and an entrepreneurial approach, with a desire to learn, grow, and contribute to the continued success of the Financial Institutions portfolio.
- A proactive and positive attitude, combined with a passion for delivering high-quality underwriting and exceptional broker service.
