Our client is looking to hire two Analysts to support their growing underwriting function, with an initial focus on Property reinsurance. This is a broad analytical role within a lean team, working directly with experienced underwriting and investment professionals across pricing, catastrophe modelling, risk analysis and portfolio analytics. The role will include a variety of product lines, including traditional reinsurance, retro, ILS, ILWs, etc.
Prior reinsurance experience is valuable but not essential.
We are looking for exceptional analytical and technical potential: people who can learn quickly, work carefully with data, and develop into increasingly independent underwriting analysts.
The work will include:
- Support the analysis and pricing of Property reinsurance opportunities, including treaty reinsurance and more structured risks.
- Analyse submission data, historical loss experience, exposures, and contract terms to help develop a clear view of risk and return.
- Assist with catastrophe modelling, exposure analysis, scenario testing, and portfolio aggregation, including work in Verisk/AIR and Moody's RMS where relevant.
- Build clear underwriting analysis and decision materials, with assumptions, sensitivities, and key risk drivers made explicit.
- Support the underwriting team through renewals and the downstream life of risks, including portfolio monitoring and event response.
- Build and improve analytical tools and workflows using Excel, Python, and modern AI-assisted development tools.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is first and foremost an analytical hire. We care more about the quality, technical aptitude, and trajectory of the individual than a rigid amount of experience. We want strong Excel skills and familiarity with Python or another analytical programming language. We value exposure to Property reinsurance pricing, catastrophe modelling, or tools such as Verisk/AIR or Moody's RMS.
