About Shelley Lending

Shelley Lending is a specialist property finance lender providing fast, flexible funding solutions across bridging finance, development finance, and specialist property lending throughout England and Wales.

We pride ourselves on delivering a relationship-led approach, combining commercial decision-making with exceptional service to brokers and borrowers.

As our loan book continues to grow, we are looking to recruit an ambitious Junior Underwriter / Case Manager to join our expanding team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within specialist property finance.

The Role

Working alongside our underwriting and lending team, you will assist in managing applications from initial enquiry through to completion, ensuring every transaction progresses efficiently and delivers an outstanding experience for brokers and borrowers.

This role provides exposure to all aspects of specialist lending and offers genuine opportunities for progression into a fully-fledged underwriting position.

Key Responsibilities

Case Management

  • Manage loan applications from enquiry through to completion.
  • Liaise with brokers, borrowers, solicitors, valuers, and other professional advisers.
  • Obtain outstanding documentation and monitor application progress.
  • Coordinate valuations and legal instructions.
  • Keep brokers and borrowers updated throughout the transaction.
  • Ensure internal systems and CRM are maintained accurately.

Underwriting Support

  • Review loan applications and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with assessing borrower affordability and exit strategies.
  • Analyse property information and security details.
  • Carry out initial due diligence and background checks.
  • Prepare underwriting summaries for senior underwriters.
  • Identify potential risks and escalate where appropriate.
  • Assist with preparing loan papers for approval.

Administration

  • Maintain accurate loan files.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Produce management reports when required.
  • Support the wider lending team with operational tasks.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is organised, commercially minded, and eager to learn.

Ideally you'll have:

  • Experience within mortgages, bridging finance, banking, or financial services.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Confidence dealing with brokers and professional advisers.
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to take ownership of cases.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.

Knowledge of bridging finance or commercial lending would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided, albeit the candidate should have finance-based experience.
