Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Underwriting Assistant to support our Marine War underwriting team, based out of our London office.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in specialist marine insurance, working alongside experienced underwriters in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Reporting directly to a Senior Underwriter the team, the successful candidate will provide administrative and technical support throughout the underwriting process, helping to deliver exceptional service to brokers while ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of policy administration.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the underwriting team.
- Assist with the preparation, processing and issuance of new business, renewals and endorsements.
- Review submissions for completeness and ensure all required information is obtained from brokers.
- Enter and maintain accurate underwriting data within underwriting and administration systems.
- Prepare underwriting files, reports, presentations and management information as required.
- Monitor renewal pipelines and assist underwriters in managing key renewal dates.
- Liaise with brokers to obtain outstanding documentation and respond to routine enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with premium calculations, quotations and policy documentation under the direction of underwriters.
- Ensure underwriting records comply with internal procedures, regulatory requirements and audit standards.
- Coordinate with operations, finance, claims and compliance teams to ensure efficient processing of business.
- Assist with portfolio analysis and data gathering to support underwriting decisions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help identify opportunities to enhance underwriting processes.

About You
- Excellent organisation skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Strong numerical aptitude and analytical skills.
- A collaborative approach with a willingness to learn.
Desirable
- Previous experience within insurance and/or the London Market.
- Knowledge of Lloyd’s of London and/or the London market.
- Progress towards or willingness to study for professional insurance qualifications (ACII)
