Project Manager - Underwriting Operations Governance

£850 per day | Inside IR35 | Contract

I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to support a major specialty insurance organisation in strengthening and maturing its Underwriting Governance framework.

Working alongside a new Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO), the successful candidate will be responsible for taking the underwriting mandate and operationalising it across the organisation.

The objective is to create a clear, consistent and robust underwriting framework across markets, ensuring brokers and other stakeholders have clear guidance on underwriting authorities, product requirements and controls.

This is initially expected to be a c.6-month programme, with further transformation work likely to follow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operationalise the new underwriting mandate across the organisation.
  • Create and cascade a clear set of underwriting authorities.
  • Develop and implement product guidelines across individual markets.
  • Establish appropriate underwriting controls and processes.
  • Review and improve the existing product approval process.
  • Ensure underwriting governance is consistently applied across different markets.
  • Work with HR, Legal and other key functions to embed the required governance framework.
  • Identify gaps within existing underwriting processes and implement improvements.
  • Work closely with the CUO and senior underwriting stakeholders.
  • Manage delivery across multiple workstreams, ensuring activity is prioritised and delivered effectively.
  • Support the organisation in creating a more mature, consistent and controlled underwriting operating model.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
