Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced UniData / Universe Data Engineer with strong experience in the direct-selling / MLM industry, particularly with commission-processing and incentive systems.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with Rocket U2 (UniData/Universe) environments, complex business rules, commission calculations, distributor/member hierarchies, and high-volume transactional data. This role will be responsible for developing, maintaining, optimizing, and supporting data solutions that power commission and incentive processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize applications and data processes using UniData / Universe.
- Work closely with business and functional teams to understand direct-selling compensation plans and translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain commission-processing logic, including:
- Sales and order-based commissions
- Bonuses and incentives
- Rank-based compensation
- Volume calculations
- Qualification rules
- Overrides and residual commissions
- Adjustments, reversals, and clawbacks
- Period-end commission processing
- Work with distributor/member hierarchies, genealogy structures, sponsor relationships, and organizational trees.
- Develop and optimize UniQuery, UniBasic, dictionaries, stored procedures, and batch processes.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and loading across operational and reporting systems.
- Troubleshoot commission-processing issues and investigate discrepancies between source transactions and calculated payouts.
- Support month-end/pay-period commission runs and ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Develop reconciliation and audit processes to validate commission calculations and financial outputs.
- Analyze and improve performance of large UniData / Universe files and batch processes.
- Integrate UniData / Universe data with external applications, databases, APIs, reporting platforms, and downstream systems.
- Participate in production support, root-cause analysis, incident resolution, and performance tuning.
- Maintain technical documentation for data structures, compensation rules, interfaces, and processing workflows.
- Collaborate with QA teams to develop test scenarios covering complex compensation-plan rules and edge cases.

Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in UniData / Universe development and data engineering.
- Hands-on experience with UniBasic / UniQuery and UniData or Universe databases.
- Proven experience in the direct-selling, MLM, network-marketing, or distributor-based business domain.
- Strong experience working with commission-processing, compensation, incentive, or payout systems.
- Understanding of distributor hierarchies, sales volume, qualifications, ranks, bonuses, and compensation plans.
- Strong SQL and relational database skills.
- Experience with data integration, ETL/ELT, batch processing, and data reconciliation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting production systems and resolving data/commission discrepancies.
- Ability to understand complex business rules and convert them into reliable technical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Rocket U2 / Rocket UniData / Universe environments.
- Experience migrating or integrating UniData / Universe with modern cloud or relational data platforms.
- Experience with APIs, web services, or middleware integrations.
- Experience with Python, scripting, or other modern data-engineering technologies.
- Experience with reporting and BI platforms.
- Knowledge of financial reconciliation, audit controls, and payout processing.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is not simply a UniData developer. We are specifically looking for someone who understands how direct-selling compensation systems work and has previously worked on the technical implementation or support of commission calculation and payout processing. Experience with complex compensation plans, distributor hierarchies, volume calculations, bonuses, adjustments, and commission-period processing will be highly valued.
