This is a 12-month paid internship starting September 2027. The role is head office based requiring a minimum of 2 days a week to be worked from our office in Winnersh.

Introducing the Opportunity

Join the Animal Health UK & Ireland marketing team for a 12-month internship focused on building practical digital marketing skills. You will work on some of Boehringer Ingelheim’s leading pet health brands and help us understand how customers engage with us across retail and veterinary channels. By exploring our digital ecosystem, mapping customer journeys and identifying opportunities to improve the experience, you will contribute to marketing that is more connected, relevant and effective. You will also help us strengthen relationships with digital and social media influencers, supporting trusted brand engagement with pet owners and veterinary professionals.

What You Will Do

  • Map and evaluate customer journeys across retail and veterinary channels, identifying opportunities to make digital experiences simpler and more engaging.
  • Review our digital ecosystem and wider market landscape, using customer, channel and campaign insights to recommend improvements.
  • Support the planning, creation and delivery of digital marketing activity for leading pet health brands, working with brand, sales, veterinary and agency colleagues.
  • Help develop relationships with relevant digital creators and social media influencers, from research and outreach through to content coordination and performance review.
  • Track and communicate digital performance using appropriate analytics, social listening and reporting tools, turning findings into clear, practical recommendations.

What You Will Gain

You will gain hands-on experience of digital marketing in a regulated, customer-focused industry, developing skills in customer journey mapping, campaign delivery, content planning and performance measurement. You will learn how retail and veterinary audiences interact with a portfolio of leading pet health brands and how insight can improve their experience. You will also build practical experience of influencer engagement and cross-functional collaboration, while strengthening your analytical thinking, communication, project management and presentation skills.

Essential Requirements

  • Currently studying for a digital marketing or marketing degree and completing a placement year as part of the course.
  • A minimum of three A levels at grades ABB, or equivalent.
  • The right to work in the UK for the full duration of the internship.
  • The ability to travel independently to the usual place of work and, where required, to other sites.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to organise work, maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and willing to learn new systems and digital tools.

Desirable Requirements

  • An interest in digital marketing, social media, e-commerce or customer experience, demonstrated through university projects, societies, volunteering, part-time work or personal projects.
  • Some familiarity with digital analytics, content creation, social listening or website platforms, together with an interest in pet health and the retail or veterinary customer journey; prior commercial experience is not required.
