This is a 12-month paid internship starting September 2027. The role is head office based requiring a minimum of 2 days a week to be worked from our office in Winnersh.
Introducing the Opportunity
Joining Boehringer Ingelheim in September 2027, you will become part of a welcoming cohort of talented interns working across the business. You will also join our highly skilled and collaborative Regulatory Affairs UK, Ireland and Malta team - a talented group of experts who bring together strong scientific knowledge, regulatory expertise and a shared commitment to patients. From day one, you will be supported by your team, your manager and HR, while contributing meaningful work and building your knowledge, confidence and professional network.
The Regulatory Affairs UK, Ireland and Malta team helps ensure that medicines are developed, authorised, supplied and communicated in accordance with UK, IE and EU regulatory requirements. Working with colleagues across Medical, Pharmacovigilance, Quality, Supply, Market Access, Commercial and global regulatory teams, we help maintain product licences and support the safe and timely availability of medicines for patients. During this 12-month placement, you will gain practical experience across the medicine lifecycle, contribute to regulatory projects and provide scientific, technical and operational support to the team. You will receive structured guidance while taking increasing ownership of defined activities as your knowledge and confidence grow.
What You Will Do
- Support the preparation, review, tracking and lifecycle maintenance of regulatory submissions and product information for medicines in the UK, Ireland and Malta.
- Coordinate regulatory documentation and health authority correspondence, maintain accurate records in regulatory systems and follow up agreed actions, commitments and timelines under supervision.
- Support reviews of packaging, labelling and promotional or non-promotional materials for consistency with approved product information and applicable procedures.
- Research regulatory requirements and emerging changes, then prepare clear summaries, presentations or updates for the team and relevant stakeholders.
- Support defined product and process-improvement projects, including data checks, trackers, metrics, document archiving and continuous improvement of team ways of working.
- Work with local and global colleagues across Regulatory Affairs and partner functions to gather information, resolve queries and support compliant delivery of product-related activities, including activities that help maintain product availability.
- Participate in team meetings, training and development activities, presenting progress and lessons from assigned projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
