Role Description

This full-time, on-site role is based in Hove and is open to both unqualified and qualified trainee mortgage advisers. The role involves:

  • Explaining available products and services
  • Supporting them through the application process
  • Learning to assess affordability, gather and verify documentation
  • Ensuring that recommendations follow internal procedures and regulatory requirements under appropriate supervision

Daily activities include:

  • Managing appointments
  • Maintaining accurate records in line with compliance standards
  • Liaising with lenders and colleagues across the branch network
  • Providing clear, timely updates to customers

As skills develop, the trainee will work towards achieving relevant mortgage adviser qualifications and taking on greater responsibility for advising customers directly.

Qualifications

  • Strong customer service, relationship-building, and communication skills to support customers through complex financial decisions
  • Sales awareness, results-focused mindset, and the ability to work towards targets in a professional, regulated environment
  • Attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and good organizational skills to manage multiple cases and deadlines
  • Numeracy skills and the ability to understand basic financial concepts, affordability assessments, and lending criteria
  • Comfort with using computer systems, CRM tools, and digital communication platforms in a fast-paced office setting
  • Willingness to learn, take part in structured training, and work towards relevant mortgage qualifications (e.g., CeMAP or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in financial services, estate agency, or customer-facing roles is beneficial but not essential
  • Ability to work collaboratively with branch colleagues and follow regulatory and company compliance standards
