JA Upholstery Ltd is a British contract furniture manufacturer based in Beeston, Leeds, specialising in high quality seating and furniture for a range of commercial sectors.
Since 1982, the company has been designing, manufacturing, and supplying durable, well-crafted contract furniture.
JA Upholstery Ltd combines traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques to meet the specific needs of clients in hospitality, corporate, and other environments. Team members work in a workshop setting where attention to detail, reliability, and pride in workmanship are highly valued.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Upholsterer role located at our workshop in Leeds. The Upholsterer will prepare frames and seating, measure and cut fabrics, foams, and other materials, and carry out upholstery work on a variety of contract furniture pieces.

Daily tasks include:

- Fitting and fixing coverings
- Attaching trims
- Ensuring all items meet quality and safety standards
The role involves reading and interpreting job specifications, working closely with production colleagues to meet deadlines, and maintaining a clean, organised workspace.
The Upholsterer will also assist with minor repairs, adjustments, and inspection of finished furniture before dispatch.
Qualifications
- Strong upholstery skills, including experience working with contract furniture in commercial settings.
- Knowledge of seating construction and comfort standards, with the ability to upholster chairs, sofas, and other seating products.
- Experience with commercial fabrics including vinyl and velvets.
- Pattern matching and careful fabric handling.
- Competent in basic furniture assembly and repair, including handling frames, padding, and finishes.
- Attention to detail, commitment to high-quality craftsmanship, and ability to follow technical drawings or specifications.
- Good manual dexterity, ability to use hand and power tools safely, and capability to handle physical aspects of the role.
- Previous experience in commercial upholstery is essential.
- Ability to work effectively on-site in a workshop environment, manage time well, and collaborate with a production team.
