Kellico Interiors Limited, founded by Mark Kelly in 1989, is a well-established family business specializing in high-quality upholstery, furniture manufacturing, and restoration. The company operates from a fully equipped workshop staffed by experienced craftspeople and a retail showroom offering distinctive lounge, dining, and occasional furniture not typically found in standard high street stores. Customers can also find original artworks, unique lighting, mirrors, and accessories to complement their interiors. Located on the canal side of a restored 19th-century textile mill in Bollington, the premises are part of a vibrant setting that includes luxury apartments, a coffee shop, and the Bollington discovery centre.

The Upholsterer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Bollington at Kellico Interiors Limited. The Upholsterer will work in the workshop to upholster, restore, and finish a variety of furniture pieces, including lounge, dining, and occasional seating. Typical tasks include:

  • Stripping and preparing frames
  • Cutting and fitting fabrics
  • Sewing
  • Padding
  • Applying coverings with attention to comfort, durability, and aesthetic detail

The role also involves:

  • Collaborating with the team to meet quality standards
  • Maintaining tools and equipment
  • Occasionally assisting with showroom preparation or client-specific customization requests

Qualifications

  • Strong upholstery skills, including experience with traditional and modern techniques.
  • Ability to work with seating and furniture frames, including repair, restoration, and finishing.
  • Proficiency in sewing and fabric handling, including measuring, cutting, and pattern matching.
  • Experience or interest in tapestry and decorative detailing for bespoke or restoration projects.
  • High attention to detail, craftsmanship, and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work safely in a workshop environment, including manual handling of furniture.
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate within a small, close-knit team.
  • Previous experience in upholstery or furniture restoration; an apprenticeship or relevant vocational training is an advantage.
