£15,600 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices
Hours
- Monday-Thursday: 7am - 4pm
- Friday: 7am - 12:45pm
- Breaks: 1 hour (Mon-Thurs), 15 mins (Fri)
- 37 hours 30 minutes a week

Summary
The Senator Group in Accrington are recruiting for an Upholstery Apprentice. The successful candidate will work towards completing a Level 2 Furniture Manufacturer apprenticeship over the duration of 24 months.
Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Learn and develop upholstery skills under the guidance of experienced upholsterers
- Prepare seating frames, cushions, foam and other components for upholstery
- Learn how to correctly position, fit and secure upholstery materials to seating products
- Develop skills in using upholstery hand tools, staple guns and other equipment safely and effectively
- Learn different upholstery techniques and finishing methods
- Assemble and finish upholstered seating products to the required quality standards
- Follow drawings, patterns, specifications and production instructions
- Check your work and finished products for quality, appearance and workmanship
- Identify and report defects or issues to your supervisor
- Maintain a clean, tidy and organised work area
- Follow all company health and safety procedures and safe working practices
- Work effectively as part of the upholstery and wider production team
- Complete apprenticeship training, coursework and assessments as required
- Develop an understanding of production targets, quality standards and efficient working practices

About this employer
In 1977 our Chairman Colin Mustoe began designing and manufacturing office furniture. In the early days, he would even build and deliver the products to customers himself. All these years on and we’ve grown into one of the largest office furniture manufacturers in the world, employing over 1,400 people globally. As an Apprentice Upholsterer, you will learn the skills and techniques required to upholster high-quality seating products within a busy manufacturing environment. Working alongside experienced upholsterers, you will develop practical skills in preparing, fitting and securing upholstery materials to seating frames and components. You will gradually develop the knowledge and ability to complete upholstery tasks to the required quality and production standards.
As part of your wider apprenticeship development, you will also have the opportunity to spend time within other areas of the factory, including frame manufacturing and fabric preparation/cutting.
