An exciting role awaits you as an Upstream Process Scientist to join a leading pharmaceutical company, based in Berkshire, UK. This position offers a unique chance to be at the forefront of early-stage process development, optimisation, and technology transfer within a dynamic and innovative team.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

Your duties as the Associate Scientist or Research Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • As the Upstream Process Scientist, you will design, plan, and execute upstream process development studies with minimal supervision.
  • As the Upstream Process Scientist, you will perform mammalian cell culture experiments using shake flasks, Ambr® systems, and laboratory-scale bioreactors.
  • As the Upstream Process Scientist, you will analyse and interpret experimental data using appropriate statistical approaches.
  • As the Upstream Process Scientist, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain accurate laboratory records.

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Upstream Process Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

  • MSc in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Bioprocess Engineering, or related discipline, or BSc with relevant industrial experience.
  • Proven industry experience in mammalian cell culture and biologics process development.
  • A working knowledge and practical experience with Ambr® and/or laboratory-scale bioreactor systems.

This role is a 12-month contract with the potential to extend, providing you with the opportunity to work with advanced cell culture technologies, high-throughput platforms, and bioreactor systems ranging from microscale to pilot scale. You will be instrumental in developing scalable mammalian cell culture processes, performing process characterisation and troubleshooting studies, and supporting the delivery of innovative protein therapeutics.
