Manchester Design Full Time

We are seeking an Urban Design Director to join our Design team in our Manchester Office to be responsible for delivering the highest quality Urban Design services within Pegasus Group, ensuring adherence to the highest standards and to provide support and guidance to junior members of the team.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with a proficient team of designers and architects, engaging in urban design and planning activities, feasibility studies, layout development, formulation of development briefs, and design strategies for residential, mixed-use schemes, and beyond.

What Are We Looking For

We are seeking professional designers who can demonstrate the following:

  • Education to degree level or equivalent with a postgraduate qualification in Architecture or Urban Design.
  • Demonstrates a strong portfolio with a high level of expertise producing design documentation including DAS, Design Codes, Development Briefs, Compliance Statements etc. which are sound, clearly structured, and articulated.
  • Highly competent in the production of detailed site layouts, street scenes, and house types for detailed applications and/or preparation of masterplans, parameter plans, DAS etc. for outline applications.
  • Exceptional design skills with an ability to resolve the diverse technical requirements of the project with the aspirations of placemaking.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well either individually or in a team, without supervision, conferring with Directors on unusual matters.
  • An ability to support, guide, and train less experienced colleagues in respect of technical requirements, project management, and policies and processes.
  • Strong reporting and presentation skills with an ability to actively lead project meetings and deliver presentations.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and take a proactive approach to managing work across multiple projects.
  • Able to use a variety of media in the design development and documentation of a design project.
  • The ability to prioritise duties and work effectively under pressure while remaining calm and professional at all times.
  • Experience of liaising with external consultants, particularly from other disciplines, and coordinating the delivery of projects.
  • Experience of leading public and stakeholder consultation across multiple projects.
