About Us

Urban Outfitters started out as a single boutique in 1970s Philadelphia with creativity and uniqueness at its core. 50 years on, and over 60 stores across Europe later, we’ve become a destination for emerging design, unexpected styling, One-Of-A-Kind vintage and homeware that makes you want to hit the share button.

We speak to a social community of over 10 million forward-thinking individuals, bringing together a nostalgia for the past with an enthusiasm to shape the future. The UO community are culturally aware, they shape the music scene, they live a digitally native life and they wear style trends before anyone else. At our core, we empower our customers and staff to express themselves, unapologetically, living life in a way that's truly authentic to them.

We are always excited to bring new talent into the room, especially if you share our values:

  • Progressive — we move with the mood
  • Creative — we champion limitless minds
  • Inclusive — we open our platforms to all communities
  • Responsible — we work to reduce our impact on the environment
  • Compassionate — we care for each other beyond the 9 to 5

Sound like you, why not join us?

Role Summary

We are looking for a highly creative and technical Intimates Designer to join our team. You must demonstrate a deep alignment with Urban Outfitters as a trend leader, with the vision and know-how to elevate the brand's intimates category to the next level.

You have a knack for taking "blue-sky" creative thinking and translating high-concept, viral underwear/loungewear trends into a balanced, well-rounded commercial range. Crucially, you possess a deep mastery of lingerie fit and construction, paired with a sharp understanding of how to engineer designs that hit our target price architecture and customer.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Viral Trend & Concept Direction: Spot fast-moving social micro-trends, viral silhouettes, print/colour directions, and street-style aesthetic shifts, translating them into aspirational yet commercially viable intimates concepts for the UO market.
  • Aspirational to Commercial Translation: Bridge high-level "blue-sky" design ideas into actionable, commercially grounded ranges across multi-product categories (lingerie, jersey sleepwear, and woven lounge/layered pieces).
  • Technical Design & Tech Packs: Execute precision and accuracy from concept to final product, producing factory-ready technical packages complete with precise specs, seam callouts, lace placement, elastic tension details, and hardware specs.
  • Costing & Architecture: Work closely with Buying to design into specific pricing structures and margin targets. Intelligently engineer styles through smart fabric yields, component selection, and construction methods without sacrificing aesthetic value.
  • Supplier Communication & Development: Communicate directly and effectively with local and global supplier bases to guide product development, troubleshoot fit/construction issues, and streamline sample approvals.

What You'll Need

  • Lingerie & Intimates Mastery: True understanding of lingerie technicalities, including complex fit, pattern engineering, wire/boning work, and specialized stretch construction.
  • Multi-Product Versatility: Deep expertise designing across both knitted/jersey fabrications and woven categories.
  • Design & Illustration Skills: Exceptional CAD skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, paired with strong hand-drawing/sketching abilities to convey intricate garment details quickly.
  • Commercial Savvy: Demonstrated ability to build aspirational products that align with strict pricing architectures and target margins.
  • Sourcing & Supplier Know-How: Broad knowledge of global supplier bases with hands-on experience in direct development communication.
  • Communication & Execution: Highly organized self-starter capable of managing tight timelines and competing priorities with confidence.
