Lecturer in Ophthalmic Dispensing – Temporary Sickness Cover
Daily Rate: £237 Including Holiday Pay
Hours: Full or Part Time
Location: Godmersham, Near Canterbury, Kent
Start Date: ASAP

Zest Optical are working with a leading provider of optical education to recruit a qualified Dispensing Optician or Contact Lens Optician for a temporary teaching position.
The role is available to provide sickness absence cover and can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced FBDO or CLO to use their professional knowledge in an educational setting while supporting the next generation of optical professionals.
Previous teaching experience is preferable not essential. Support will be available for someone moving into education from practice, although you must be confident sharing your technical knowledge and supporting learners.

Lecturer in Ophthalmic Dispensing – Role
- Provide temporary sickness absence cover
- Approx 6 weeks needed from now
- Start as soon as possible
- Deliver teaching across ophthalmic dispensing programmes
- Support students with their academic work, portfolios and external assessments
- Use a range of teaching methods, including face-to-face, online and blended learning
- Work alongside lecturers, tutors and supervisors to provide a positive student experience
- Contribute to teaching materials and subject development where required
- Full or part-time hours available
- Primarily campus-based in Godmersham, near Canterbury
- Subsidised staff accommodation available if required
- Occasional travel to the organisation’s training centre in Birmingham may be required

- Qualified Dispensing Optician or Contact Lens Optician
- FBDO or CLO qualification essential
- Current GOC registration
- Strong technical knowledge of ophthalmic dispensing
- Confident communicating with and supporting learners
- Experience coaching, mentoring or training colleagues would be beneficial
- Comfortable using, or willing to learn, digital and online teaching platforms
- Previous teaching experience is desirable but not essential
- Available to start as soon as possible
Pay and Additional Information
- Daily rate of £237, including holiday pay
