Urology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (Band 6)
9 Month Fixed-Term / Secondment (Maternity Leave Cover)
Are you an experienced and compassionate registered nurse looking to develop your career in urology cancer services?
We are seeking a motivated Band 6 Urology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team on a 9-month fixed-term or secondment opportunity to provide maternity leave cover.
Responsibilities
As a Urology Cancer CNS, you will support patients with suspected or confirmed urological cancers, including prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular, and penile cancers. Acting as a key point of contact, you will provide specialist advice, emotional support, patient education, and care coordination.
- Undertake holistic needs assessments
- Support patients to make informed decisions about treatment
- Coordinate cancer pathways
- Work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, personalised care
- Contribute to service improvement, audit, clinical governance, and quality initiatives that support safe, effective, and evidence-based cancer care

Requirements
Previous CNS experience is desirable but not essential, as a structured training and development programme will be provided.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate registered nurse with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for delivering outstanding patient-centred care. The successful candidate will be able to:
- Build trusting relationships with patients and families
- Communicate complex information sensitively
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
You will demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills, be able to coordinate complex patient pathways, and manage competing priorities. We are looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning and service improvement.
Previous experience in cancer nursing, urology, or a specialist nursing role is desirable but not essential. Most importantly, you will have a caring and professional approach, sound clinical judgement, a commitment to high standards of care, and the motivation to develop the knowledge and skills required to become an effective Urology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist.
