US LBM DOT Compliance Specialist

Responsibilities
The US LBM DOT Compliance Specialist is responsible for working with leadership and vendors to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and DOT and FMCSA regulations along with company policies. This position will coordinate the preparation and completion of regulatory and compliance documents. The DOT Compliance Specialist will also conduct driver training and skills assessments, on-boarding training and orientation, remedial training, and maintaining compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
What you will do:
- Responsible for helping manage internal and external compliance reporting, providing compliance advice and assistance, conducting compliance investigations, and managing the ongoing education program.
- Evaluate, analyze, and identify trends, and implement preventive and corrective measures to prevent accidents.
- Monitor and assist in enforcement of DOT and FMCSA regulations to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate the task of qualifying FMCSA regulated drivers and the storage of all required documents for a Driver Qualification File in the appropriate software.
- Coordinate the tasks of conducting pre-employment and annual queries in FMCSA’s Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
- Administer DOT mandated drug and alcohol testing to include random, reasonable suspicion, pot-accident, return to duty, and follow-up tests.
- Facilitate and participate in driver and fleet safety committee meetings.
- Review, update, and create policies and procedures related to driver and fleet safety.
- Scrutinize vendors for quality of services and pricing.
- Act as project manager for the implementation of new programs and initiatives.

Experience Qualifications
- 4-6 years of transportation compliance experience required.
Skills and Abilities
- Expertise and extensive knowledge of DOT and FMCSA rules and regulations.
- Advanced computer skills with proficiency and working knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Self-starter with ability to take initiative and be an independent thinker.
- Maintain work by effectively using problem-solving skills.
- A quick learner with solid work habits who works well under pressure and strict deadlines, with constant re-prioritization of duties.
- Must have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Must have a high level of organization, the ability to multitask, and manage time effectively.
- Must have strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, establish priorities, and accomplish goals and objectives.
- Partner with team members and recognize, understand, and appreciate differences, and connect across these differences by being mutually adaptive and respectful.
- Physical demands include lifting up-to 25 lbs. infrequently. Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. Bending and stooping frequently.
- Must be able to wear all appropriate personal protective equipment including hard hat, vests, gloves, footwear, and infrequent use of masks.
