About the team

The Equities business provides institutional clients with research, market intelligence, trading execution and access to UK and European equity markets. The team works across London, New York and other international offices, partnering with Research, Trading, Electronic Execution, Corporate Access and Corporate Broking colleagues to deliver a joined-up client proposition.
This role will focus on developing and managing relationships with US institutional investors investing in UK and European equities. It offers significant scope to deepen strategic client relationships, drive revenue growth and contribute to the continued expansion of the Equities franchise.

What will I be doing?

Client coverage and relationship management

  • Develop and maintain relationships with US institutional investors investing in UK and European equities.
  • Become a trusted adviser to clients by providing market colour, liquidity insights and execution expertise.
  • Drive client engagement through regular interaction with portfolio managers, traders and analysts.
  • Identify opportunities to increase wallet share and commission generation across existing and prospective accounts.

Sales trading and execution

  • Execute client orders across UK and European equity markets while delivering best execution.
  • Provide clients with market intelligence, liquidity analysis and trading ideas.
  • Work closely with Trading and Electronic Execution teams to deliver optimal execution outcomes.
  • Assist clients in navigating UK and European market structure and trading opportunities.

Revenue generation

  • Generate commission revenues through institutional client activity.
  • Support franchise growth through the acquisition of new client relationships.
  • Increase market share within key strategic accounts.
  • Contribute to broader Equities business objectives and revenue targets.

Internal collaboration

  • Partner closely with Research Analysts to deliver actionable investment ideas.
  • Work with Corporate Access and Corporate Broking teams to maximise client engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across London, New York and other international offices.
  • Support roadshows, investor events and corporate access opportunities.

Risk and regulatory responsibilities

  • Adhere to FCA regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement in all trading and client interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with market abuse, best execution and conduct regulations.
  • Maintain the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and client care.

How success will be measured

  • Growth in commission revenues and wallet share across strategic accounts.
  • New client acquisition, relationship development, client retention and engagement.
  • Contribution to overall Equities franchise growth.
  • Delivery of exceptional client service and execution outcomes.

What do I need to bring?

Essential experience

  • Experience in Equity Sales Trading, Institutional Equity Sales or a comparable front-office role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and European equity markets.
  • Experience covering US institutional investors.
  • Proven ability to build and manage client relationships.
  • A strong commercial mindset and focus on revenue generation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree educated or able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience.
  • Relevant FCA regulatory qualifications, where required.
  • A strong understanding of market conduct and regulatory obligations.

Desirable experience

  • Existing relationships with US institutional investors.
  • Experience covering hedge funds, asset managers and long-only funds.
  • Knowledge of electronic trading platforms and algorithmic execution.
  • Experience working within an international equities platform.
  • Knowledge of UK and European small-cap and mid-cap equities.
