Help ambitious businesses build, scale, and navigate change.

Altern8 Legal was built around the belief that ambitious businesses should be able to access exceptional senior legal expertise flexibly, while experienced lawyers should have greater ownership over how, where, and with whom they work.

We are supporting a major international financial institution with a significant regulatory implementation programme relating to the new US Treasury central-clearing requirements.

We are looking to speak with senior lawyers, documentation specialists, and market-infrastructure professionals who can support the business as it prepares for the upcoming clearing requirements affecting US Treasury cash and repo activity.

The engagement is expected to span approximately 12 months and will involve close collaboration across Legal, Risk, Operations, and front-office teams in London and New York.

The work is likely to include:

  • Supporting implementation of the new US Treasury central-clearing regime
  • Advising on FICC Sponsored and Agency clearing models and associated regulatory requirements
  • Reviewing, negotiating and implementing relevant repo and Treasury-clearing documentation
  • Experience with SIFMA Treasury Clearing Agreements, Sponsored Repo Agreements, MRA/GMRA documentation or closely related agreements
  • Developing playbooks, negotiation positions and escalation frameworks
  • Assessing client, entity and operational-readiness requirements
  • Coordinating across Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operations, Technology and front-office stakeholders
  • Supporting client onboarding, documentation remediation and implementation tracking

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We are particularly interested in two complementary profile types:

1. Treasury Clearing / Regulatory Implementation Specialists

Professionals with recent experience implementing US Treasury clearing, FICC or comparable market-infrastructure and regulatory-change programmes.

2. Senior Repo Documentation Lawyers / Negotiators

Experienced negotiators with deep knowledge of repo and securities-financing documentation, particularly MRA, GMRA, GMSLA and related collateral and clearing arrangements.

Candidates who combine elements of both backgrounds will be especially relevant.

Direct experience of the current US Treasury clearing reforms would be highly valuable, although we would also welcome senior professionals with strong adjacent experience across repo, securities finance, clearing, collateral and regulatory implementation.

The preference is for candidates able to work with the team in London, although we would not rule out particularly strong profiles based in New York or elsewhere in North America, given the specialist nature of the requirement.

This is expected to be a substantial, business-critical engagement with significant exposure to senior stakeholders and one of the most important current regulatory changes affecting the US Treasury market.
