UX/UI Designer (FTC - 4 Months)

At UKTV, we're transforming how audiences discover and enjoy content through U, our rapidly growing streaming service. As we continue to evolve our digital products across Web, Mobile and Connected TV, we're looking for a talented UX/UI Designer to join us on a 4-month fixed-term contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile consumer products, helping to create intuitive, accessible and engaging experiences that deliver real value to both our users and the business.

About the Role

As a UX/UI Designer, you'll play a key role in shaping the user experience across UKTV's Video on Demand ecosystem. Working within a collaborative Product, Design and Engineering team, you'll be involved throughout the design process, from discovery and research through to polished UI and delivery.

You'll use customer insight, analytics and creative thinking to solve real user problems, helping millions of viewers find and enjoy the content they love.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design engaging user experiences across Web, Mobile and Connected TV platforms
  • Create user journeys, wireframes, prototypes and production-ready UI designs
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Developers and stakeholders to solve customer problems
  • Participate in discovery workshops, design spikes and concept exploration
  • Design accessible experiences that follow best practice and industry standards
  • Contribute to and evolve the UKTV design system
  • Use customer research, analytics and usability testing to validate design decisions
  • Collaborate with Engineering and QA teams to ensure designs are delivered accurately
  • Present concepts and design rationale to stakeholders across the business
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies including planning sessions, stand-ups and retrospectives
  • Share knowledge and champion design best practices across the team

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Experience designing digital consumer products across Web, Mobile or TV platforms
  • Strong end-to-end UX/UI design experience, from discovery through to delivery
  • Expertise in creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs
  • Experience working within Agile product teams
  • Experience working with or contributing to design systems
  • Experience validating designs through user research, usability testing or analytics

Technical & Design Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of user-centred design principles
  • Knowledge of interaction design, information architecture and visual design
  • Understanding of accessibility and inclusive design best practices
  • Experience designing responsive and adaptive experiences across multiple devices
  • Ability to use customer insights and data to inform design decisions
  • Awareness of current UX/UI trends, tools and emerging technologies
