User Researcher

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne – Hybrid
Salary: Up to £55,000

The Role

We’re looking for a User Researcher to join a close-knit UX and Design team, working across a range of clients and digital projects.
You’ll play a key role in understanding user needs, turning research into actionable insights and helping teams create better digital products and services.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Plan, recruit and conduct user research sessions, both remotely and face-to-face.
  • Manage the research process from recruitment and planning through to analysis, reporting and playback.
  • Work with Product Owners and Service Managers to develop effective research strategies.
  • Turn research findings into clear, actionable insights that influence product and service direction.
  • Create research stimulus and support prototyping and testing.
  • Work closely with designers and developers to translate user insights into requirements.
  • Work within Agile/Scrum teams, advocating for users throughout the delivery process.
  • Collaborate with UX and Design colleagues to share knowledge and develop best practice.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as a User Researcher.
  • Experience working with the Government Digital Service (GDS) or to GDS standards – essential.
  • Experience working within an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Strong understanding of user-centred design and the confidence to advocate for users with stakeholders and delivery teams.
  • Strong communication, research and stakeholder management skills.
