On behalf of the Cabinet Office we are looking for a User Researcher (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract. Hybrid working with travel as and when required to either Bristol, Glasgow or Manchester.

About the Role
As a User Researcher you will independently lead on a wide range of user research activities within a multi-disciplinary delivery team. You will advocate for user research across a range of stakeholders and build the team’s user research capabilities into an effective, long-term service.
We have one post available in Manchester, Glasgow or Bristol to join our Enterprise Services function and deliver physical and infrastructure IT, including laptops, phones and Wifi. This is a complex area: we are stabilising our IT platform as well as improving it.
You will help improve the day-to-day working of up to 15,000 users, ensuring they get the most out of their IT.
Key Responsibilities
- Use a wide range of user research methods, help teams to adopt them to better understand changing user behaviour.
- Plan research for services with challenging user needs and complex user journeys while advocating for best practice.
- Understand and advise on a range of methods to analyse research data and synthesise findings, and engage sceptical colleagues in your analysis and synthesis.
- Help teams understand the diversity of users of our services, include those users in appropriate research activities and advocate inclusive practices for the team to ultimately deliver accessible services for all users.
- Align user research activities to inform strategic decision-making.
- Help inexperienced teams adopt user-centred practices and embed them into their Agile workflow.

Essential Requirements
- An active SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. (Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.)
- Planning and delivering user research projects, including setting research methods and applying user-centred practices.
- Generating actionable insights despite constraints, ambiguity or users with complex needs.
- Presenting your research clearly to stakeholders and winning their buy-in.
- Prioritising your own workload while working across multiple projects at once.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in IT related projects, preferably including infrastructure or hardware.
- Public Sector experience.
