Senior User Researcher
Salary: £57,500–£66,000 per year
Location: London
Working Arrangement: Office, client-site, and home working; flexibility to work on-site at least 2 days per week, depending on client requirements

Overview
Our client, a digital services consultancy, is looking for a Senior User Researcher to lead research and help multidisciplinary teams design services around genuine user needs.
You’ll bring expertise in user research, people-centred design, and Agile delivery, advising clients on complex problems while championing inclusive research practices. The role combines hands-on consultancy with leadership, including line management and mentoring of other user researchers.
The advertised salary band represents the entry point for the level, with clear progression within the role supported.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on solving complex problems through user research, people-centred design, and Agile methodologies.
- Lead multidisciplinary Agile teams in designing services that meet identified user needs.
- Champion inclusive approaches to user research.
- Build strong client and stakeholder relationships, constructively challenging ideas and managing difficult conversations.
- Line manage user researchers and advise colleagues on getting the most from user research.
- Support recruitment, events, thought-leadership content, and new business activity.
- Promote effective people-centred design approaches across client and internal work.

Requirements
- Expertise in applying user research methodologies across different environments.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary Agile teams to design and deliver people-centred services.
- Working knowledge of researching accessibility or assisted digital needs.
- Proven experience championing user research, user-centred design, or service design approaches.
- Experience of line management, mentoring, or training other user researchers.
- Advanced stakeholder management and communication skills, including managing conflict and communicating difficult messages sensitively.
- Good understanding of Agile roles across design, product, and technology.
- Strong consultancy and leadership skills, with confidence exploring complex problem spaces with clients and determining appropriate approaches.
