Senior Utilities Surveyor
Location: Garforth, Leeds
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role
TEXO Recruitment is supporting our client in the recruitment of an experienced Senior Utilities Surveyor to join their team in Garforth, Leeds.
The successful candidate will lead the delivery of utility detection and mapping surveys, while providing technical guidance and support to other members of the survey team.
The role will involve UK-wide travel and regular overnight stays, so flexibility is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead utility detection and mapping surveys in line with PAS 128.
- Plan survey activities, resources, and equipment requirements.
- Prepare survey methodologies and support RAMS.
- Operate electromagnetic locating equipment and GPR.
- Review utility records, drawings, and existing site information.
- Allocate and supervise work across survey teams.
- Mentor and support Junior Utilities Surveyors.
- Review survey data, drawings, and technical reports.
- Identify and resolve technical issues on site.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Support project mobilisation and resource planning.
- Provide technical input into quotations and estimates.
- Ensure survey equipment is maintained and fit for purpose.
- Maintain high standards of HSEQ throughout all work.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Significant experience in utility detection and mapping.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of PAS 128.
- Extensive experience using EM locating equipment and GPR.
- Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring survey teams.
- Strong understanding of underground utility networks.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and survey information.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Valid CSCS card.
Desirable
- Experience preparing RAMS and survey methodologies.
- Experience supporting quotations and project estimates.
- Experience using GPS/GNSS and total station equipment.
- GPR post-processing experience.
- Relevant surveying, engineering, or utilities qualification.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
