Based - Lifton, Devon

42 hours per week, 4 on, 4 off, Rotating days and nights

Salary - £44,203 per annum

Are you an experienced engineering, maintenance or utilities professional who enjoys keeping essential plant and services running safely and reliably?

We’re looking for a Utilities Technician to join our team at the Ambrosia Creamery site in Lifton, Devon. Reporting to the Site Services Manager, you’ll help operate, monitor and maintain the utilities plant that supports our continuous manufacturing operations. This includes steam, refrigeration, compressed air, water and effluent services.


What you will be doing:

  • Operating and monitoring boilers, refrigeration, compressed air, water treatment and effluent systems
  • Completing routine plant checks, sampling, meter readings and operating records
  • Carrying out planned maintenance, first-line repairs and fault-finding within your level of competence
  • Responding to plant alarms, breakdowns and interruptions to utilities services
  • Identifying defects, abnormal operating conditions and emerging risks
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance, compliance and shift-handover records
  • Supporting statutory inspections, specialist contractors and improvement projects
  • Helping improve plant reliability, energy efficiency and operating costs

What we need from you:

You’ll have relevant practical experience within engineering, maintenance, utilities or process operations, along with hands-on experience of operating, maintaining or fault-finding on industrial plant or process equipment.

You’ll also bring:

  • Practical mechanical knowledge and a basic understanding of electrical systems
  • Strong safety and environmental awareness
  • The ability to identify problems, take appropriate action and communicate clearly
  • Confidence working independently as part of a 24/7 shift team
  • The ability to use maintenance systems and keep accurate records

Experience with boilers, refrigeration, compressed air, water treatment or effluent systems would be particularly valuable. Experience within food manufacturing or another regulated process environment would also be beneficial.
