About the Role

We are seeking motivated and committed Utility Surveyors to join our Underground Utility Survey teams based in Shropshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary surveying business offering strong career progression opportunities and exposure to a wide variety of underground utility and geospatial projects. You will work with the latest survey technologies and have the opportunity to develop your technical expertise while contributing to the continued growth of the utilities department.

The role would suit an experienced Utility Surveyor who is looking to further develop their career within a growing and technically diverse business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver underground utility surveys to PAS128 standards
  • Undertake utility mapping projects using electromagnetic locating and ground penetrating radar technologies
  • Operate Radiodetection and Vivax electromagnetic locating equipment
  • Carry out ground penetrating radar surveys using a range of industry-standard systems
  • Process and interpret survey data to produce accurate deliverables
  • Produce and review survey outputs using AutoCAD
  • Support projects involving topographical and drainage survey information
  • Supervise trainee surveyors and provide guidance and training where required
  • Lead field teams on utility survey projects
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard
  • Maintain survey equipment and ensure operational readiness
  • Contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the utilities department

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • Minimum two years' experience working as an Underground Utility Surveyor
  • Hold or be working towards a ProQual qualification
  • Highly proficient in the use of Radiodetection and Vivax electromagnetic locating equipment
  • Competent in the operation of Ground Penetrating Radar systems
  • Experience delivering PAS128 utility surveys
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Understanding of drainage principles in relation to site surveys and design
  • Experience delivering high-quality work within agreed timescales
  • Awareness of topographical survey principles
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior survey staff
  • Strong health and safety awareness and commitment to safe systems of work
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel regularly and stay away from home when required
