About Bluegrid Utilities

Bluegrid Utilities delivers utility infrastructure services, including water-meter installation, excavation and reinstatement. We are seeking one experienced Utility Surveyor to strengthen our pre-installation planning and provide accurate site information before operational teams are deployed.

This is an ongoing opportunity with potential for a long-term engagement, subject to programme requirements, performance and mutually agreed terms.

Purpose of the role

You will assess proposed water-meter installation locations and produce reliable survey information that helps our operations team identify suitable work, resolve constraints and plan the correct resources.

Accurate reporting is central to this role. Findings must reflect actual site conditions, including locations that require further investigation or cannot proceed as originally planned.

Key responsibilities

  • Review allocated job information, available utility records and the agreed survey brief before attending site.
  • Confirm the correct property, job reference and proposed installation location.
  • Assess access, existing meter or boundary-box arrangements, surface conditions and likely excavation and reinstatement requirements.
  • Identify customer-access issues, obstructions, apparent utility conflicts and other delivery constraints.
  • Undertake utility-location checks using CAT & Genny/EM locating equipment within your training, competence and the agreed scope.
  • Capture clear photographs, measurements, sketches and site observations.
  • Record discrepancies between allocation information and actual site conditions.
  • Identify any additional permits, traffic-management arrangements, specialist resources or investigations needed.
  • Submit complete digital survey reports within agreed timescales.
  • Recommend whether a location is suitable to progress, requires specified actions, needs further investigation or is unsuitable under the current scope.
  • Discuss findings with the operations team and support the preparation of accurate installation work packs.
  • Follow site-specific health and safety requirements and report hazards promptly.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
