What you’ll be doing
You’ll play a key role in supporting the Head of UW Review with the ongoing development and delivery of the Business Management Loss Ratio Framework, helping to ensure it is embedded effectively across the business. - In this role, you’ll contribute to the production and interpretation of business management loss ratios, providing clear analysis that helps stakeholders understand prospective underwriting performance.
- You’ll support regular reporting into governance forums and help identify areas for targeted review, working closely with Actuarial Portfolio Insights teams to deliver high quality outputs to agreed timelines.
- You’ll also be involved in the wider business planning process, supporting the coordination of actuarial input and providing thoughtful challenge to ensure plans properly reflect the impact of the underwriting cycle.
- Alongside this, you’ll collaborate across teams to support cycle management activity, helping to shape forward- looking views and supporting a consistent and joined up approach to decision making across the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
