Would you like to shape accessible digital products that make a meaningful difference to teaching, learning and assessment around the world?
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
Join our Digital Products and Services team as a UX Designer and help deliver user-centred products and services informed by customer insight and evidence-based design. You'll lead research and design activities, collaborate across disciplines, and have opportunities to connect directly with teachers and learners through research activities and school visits.
About The Role
As a UX Designer, you will lead research and design activities on small to medium-complexity projects, taking ownership of solutions from discovery through to delivery. Working closely with colleagues across Product Management, Technology, UX Research and Design, you will define problems, explore opportunities and deliver experiences that balance user needs, business objectives and technical constraints.
You will be accountable for ensuring that customer insight informs product decisions and that your work results in accessible, inclusive and engaging experiences. You will clearly communicate your design rationale, support effective implementation and review delivered solutions to help maintain a high-quality user experience.
Additional responsibilities and accountabilities include:
- Lead user research, discovery and design activities to create evidence-based digital experiences that meet customer, business and technical needs.
- Design accessible and inclusive user experiences across the product lifecycle, from initial concepts and prototypes through to delivery and review.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering and Design colleagues to deliver high-quality solutions and drive continuous improvement.
- Create and communicate design artefacts, insights and recommendations that support effective decision-making and implementation.
- Contribute to the development of end-to-end customer journeys and strategic design initiatives across teaching, learning and assessment experiences.
- Support a collaborative design culture through design critiques, knowledge sharing, mentoring and the promotion of accessibility and user-centred design practices.
This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. Aside from our hybrid principles, other flexible working requests will be considered from the first day of employment, including other work arrangements should you require adjustments due to a disability or long-term health condition.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
