About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Principal UX Designer to join the Bentley Infrastructure Cloud (BIC) team. In this senior individual contributor role, you will lead the development of user experience standards and ensure the delivery of high-quality, impactful designs across Bentley’s cloud platform. You will define what excellent UX looks like, influence product and organizational strategies, and elevate the design maturity of the team through mentorship, rigorous critique, and innovative use of AI in UX practices. Your expertise will help shape meaningful user experiences that connect complex data, workflows, and digital twins into a cohesive product ecosystem. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep user-centered design knowledge, strong influence skills, and a passion for driving cultural change in design within a technically complex environment.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in UX, interaction, or product design, with a proven portfolio demonstrating excellence in multi-product environments.
- Extensive experience in raising the design standards within organizations where design influence was initially limited.
- Deep expertise in user-centered design methods, from research and discovery to detailed interaction design.
- Strong opinions about design quality, with the ability to articulate and uphold high standards under pressure.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and shape strategic initiatives without direct authority.
- Comprehensive fluency across the full spectrum of UX, including systems thinking, information architecture, and interaction craft.
- Active leadership in integrating AI into UX practices, with a clear understanding of its implications and opportunities.
- Strong accessibility and inclusive design literacy.
- Proficiency in Figma and familiarity with design systems.
- Excellent communication skills, calm under pressure, and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities
- Define and uphold the UX quality standards across all team projects, ensuring every deliverable meets the established benchmarks of excellence.
- Serve as the senior UX authority on product work, making strategic decisions on user flows, interaction patterns, and information architecture.
- Ground design decisions in deep user research, data analysis, and insights, embedding evidence-based practices into the team’s workflow.
- Build credibility within product and engineering teams by demonstrating high-quality thinking and confident leadership.
- Collaborate with strategic design leads on problem framing, vision development, and organizational design challenges.
- Influence product and business outcomes by showcasing how superior experience quality enhances adoption, retention, and customer satisfaction.
- Lead efforts to integrate AI into UX workflows, exploring new methodologies for research, prototyping, and validation.
- Mentor and develop designers through rigorous feedback, pairing, and critique sessions, fostering capability growth and standard elevation.
- Lead the documentation and dissemination of case studies and knowledge outputs that demonstrate the value of design.
- Maintain regular communication with colleagues, managers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency in design initiatives.
