About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal UX Designer to join the Bentley Infrastructure Cloud (BIC) team. In this role, you will serve as a senior individual contributor responsible for defining and upholding the highest standards of user experience across Bentley’s cloud platform. You will lead through influence, judgment, and standards, shaping the UX strategy and ensuring that every product surface delivers clarity, coherence, and exceptional usability. Your expertise will guide the team in creating meaningful, accessible, and innovative user experiences that enable users to unlock the full potential of their data at scale. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate with strategic design leads, product managers, and engineering teams to influence product direction, foster a culture of design excellence, and incorporate AI-driven UX practices. This role offers an opportunity to shape the future of infrastructure digital solutions while mentoring and elevating the design capabilities of your colleagues.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in UX, interaction, or product design with a robust portfolio demonstrating excellence across complex, multi-product environments.
  • Proven track record of elevating design standards within organizations where UX influence was previously limited.
  • Deep expertise in user-centered design methodologies, from research and discovery to detailed interaction design.
  • Strong design authority with the ability to articulate and defend quality standards under pressure.
  • Experience leading through influence without direct authority, shaping complex initiatives and driving cultural change.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the full UX spectrum, including strategic framing, systems thinking, and interaction craftsmanship.
  • Active leadership in integrating AI into UX practices, with a clear point of view on its impact and opportunities.
  • Strong accessibility and inclusive design literacy, committed to equitable user experiences.
  • Proficiency in Figma and solid understanding of design systems and component libraries.
  • Calm, confident presence with excellent communication skills, capable of providing rigorous feedback and fostering collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Define, model, and maintain the UX quality standards across all team projects, ensuring consistency and excellence in every deliverable.
  • Serve as the senior UX authority, making strategic decisions on user flows, interaction patterns, and information architecture, while managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Ground design decisions in deep user insights obtained through research, data analysis, and synthesis of existing information.
  • Build credibility within product and engineering teams by demonstrating design excellence and influencing decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate upstream with strategic design leads on problem framing, vision development, and organizational challenges beyond individual products.
  • Demonstrate how superior experience quality impacts key business metrics such as adoption, retention, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead the integration of AI technologies into UX practices, exploring new research, prototyping, and validation methods.
  • Mentor and develop designers through rigorous feedback, pairing, and critique, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and capability building.
  • Develop and share case studies, knowledge outputs, and proof of design value to strengthen the team's evidence base.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, managers, and stakeholders via digital platforms and in person, ensuring alignment and transparency.
  • Participate in occasional travel to Bentley office locations as needed, supporting global collaboration efforts.
