We foster a challenging and dynamic environment that emphasizes career development, continuous training, and inclusive culture. About The Role

We are seeking a talented Senior UX Designer to join our Puzzles team within the newly established Premium Propositions Product Group on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This strategic role involves leading the design of a world-class, cross-platform puzzles experience that aims to increase daily engagement, subscription growth, and advertising revenue. As a key member of the team, you will craft intuitive, engaging, and visually compelling user experiences across web and mobile platforms, transforming the Guardian’s puzzles offering from a supplementary feature into a premium destination for our supporters. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Product Managers, Engineers, and Researchers—to shape the long-term UX vision while being hands-on in designing innovative puzzle formats, gamification features, and subscription-focused interactions that resonate with our diverse readership.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience designing digital products within cross-functional teams, preferably in subscription-based, gaming, or content-rich environments.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX design for both web and mobile platforms, including gamified experiences.
  • Experience working with design systems and component libraries, with a deep understanding of interaction design, usability, accessibility, information architecture, and user behavior.
  • The ability to balance business objectives, technical constraints, and user needs.
  • Experience mentoring designers and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Backgrounds in casual or mobile gaming, puzzles, or gamification will have a distinct advantage.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
