As a UX Designer, you’ll help define, design and deliver frictionless, useful experiences that help our members manage their money and look after what matters to them in life. You will work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary delivery teams of designers, product owners, developers and delivery leads, and with other Nationwide departments and stakeholders, to create experiences and services that have a positive impact on our members, colleagues and business.
This role sits within our Digital Product and Design team, helping create exceptional digital journeys and services for our customers and members.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
This is a 15-month Fixed Term Contract opportunity.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at our London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. What you’ll be doing
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You’ll take day-to-day responsibility for UX design activities, including hands-on creation of deliverables through all stages of the project including research, ideation, gathering and evaluation of customer needs and requirements, user journeys, prototyping from sketches to high fidelity, user interfaces and interaction design. All deliverables will need to meet or exceed the department’s quality standards and support Nationwide’s regulatory and compliance obligations.
You’ll help identify opportunities and shape solutions by using your UX design skills to create and deliver experiences and services that are engaging and meet the needs of those that interact with them.
We’ll need you to attend and contribute to workshops and interviews with members, colleagues, stakeholders and other subject matter experts, and present your work to peers and internal audiences.
You’ll work closely with senior designers and design specialists, using feedback and critique to improve design outcomes and build your craft.

- A pragmatic, analytical approach to balancing customer, business, regulatory and technical needs while managing multiple deliverables
- Comfortable using storytelling, critique and presenting to explain your thinking, listen to feedback and improve outcomes
