Great employee experiences don't happen by accident — they're designed. At Citi, we believe that the tools people use every day at work should be just as intuitive, seamless, and delightful as the best consumer apps out there.
Our UX team is on a mission to transform our Human Resources apps and systems — from onboarding and benefits to performance and beyond — turning friction into flow and complexity into clarity.
If you're passionate about putting people first, obsessed with crafting digital experiences that genuinely make life easier, and excited by the idea that great design can elevate the everyday moments of someone's working world, then this is the role for you.
The Role
As a UX / Product Design Lead you'll take ownership of design quality and craft across your product area, setting the standard for what great design looks like at Citi. Building on all the skills of a Senior UX Designer, you'll take on broader responsibility for the quality of the end-to-end experience, guiding and developing other designers, and contributing to the definition and evolution of reusable patterns and standards that raise the bar across the team.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with research, senior stakeholders, product managers and engineering teams to brainstorm and co-create ideas, approaches, and solutions
- Create and oversee wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma, along with our established Design System
- Ensure that designs follow best practices and use research & testing to inform and validate
- Take accountability for the overall quality of the user experience across your product area, proactively identifying gaps and driving improvements
- Act as a design guardian – reviewing other designers' work, providing constructive critique, and ensuring a consistently high standard of design is maintained across the team
- Define, document, and champion reusable design patterns and components, contributing to the evolution of our Design System and shared design language
- Guide and mentor other UX Designers, helping them develop their craft, build confidence, and grow their careers
- Confidently challenge the status quo at a senior level, encouraging product and engineering partners to address root causes and put user needs first
- Apply a positive and constructive attitude when giving and receiving all feedback
- Deliver high-quality design assets to the engineering team, along with clear guidance to ensure all aspects of the designs are fully understood
- Provide ongoing support to engineering, with regular UX review checkpoints to ensure quality and that the system is being built as designed
- Keep up to date with the latest UX practices, innovations, and tools – including AI-enabled design approaches – and proactively share learnings with the team
- Ensure all designs comply with ADA/WCAG standards for accessibility
- Deliver on time, identifying and managing risks to ensure timelines are met, and escalating where needed
- Lead by example, supporting, training and developing junior and mid-level members of the team
- Moderate conflicts between colleagues and/or stakeholders, guiding to constructive resolution
- Take a leading role in the wider UX community, helping to define our standards and practices

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
