Uncover what matters most to teachers and learners, and help shape digital education products used around the world.
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
Join the Education UX Research team and help shape products and services used by teachers, learners and education professionals around the world. Working closely with colleagues across product, design and education, you will scope and deliver research, generate actionable insights, and help teams make confident decisions.
About The Role
As a UX Researcher, you will lead research on focused projects and contribute to larger strategic programmes. You will use both generative and evaluative methods, researching remotely and in the field. Your work will help teams understand customer needs, test ideas and improve products throughout the design process.
You will also work with the UX Research and wider UX Education teams to help us strengthen consistent and scalable research practices. This includes contributing to shared methods, guidance and an accessible repository of research insights.
Additional responsibilities and accountabilities include:
- Scope, plan and conduct research using methods such as interviews, surveys and usability testing.
- Select appropriate qualitative and quantitative methods for the research objectives and project context.
- Recruit representative participants and coordinate incentive payments in line with research ethics and data privacy requirements.
- Analyse and synthesise evidence, presenting clear insights and actionable recommendations.
- Lead research on focused projects, including managing research budgets where required.
- Collaborate with UX researchers, UX designers, product managers, and education and assessment specialists.
- Support colleagues with less research experience to plan and conduct effective usability testing.
- Contribute to shared research approaches, toolkits and an organisation-wide insights repository.
- Advocate for customers, accessibility and inclusion throughout the end-to-end design process.
This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. Aside from our hybrid principles, other flexible working requests will be considered from the first day of employment, including other work arrangements should you require adjustments due to a disability or long-term health condition.
About You
You will have practical experience of planning, conducting and communicating UX research. You can work independently on research projects, collaborate effectively with stakeholders and use evidence to influence decisions and improve user experiences.
To succeed in this role, you will bring experience and a good understanding of:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
