ARC delivers expert solutions to the precision medicine and in vitro diagnostic (IVD) medical device sectors. Our work helps pharmaceutical, biotech and diagnostics teams navigate complex requirements, strengthen clinical research and advance better patient outcomes.
We are looking for an experienced UX/UI Designer & Front-End Developer to lead the design and continuous improvement of ARC’s digital product portfolio. You will combine user-centred design with practical front-end engineering, turning complex scientific, regulatory and operational workflows into clear, accessible and high-performing experiences.
You will be ARC’s subject matter expert for user experience, accessibility, design systems and front-end standards. Working closely with Product, Software Engineering, AI Engineering and Test Engineering, you will help evolve ARC’s Digital solutions and contribute to future technology solutions—from early discovery through to production delivery.
Job Purpose
To play a leading role in the design, development and continuous improvement of ARC's digital platforms, ensuring customers benefit from intuitive, accessible and high-performing user experiences. The postholder will combine UX/UI expertise with front-end engineering capability, translating customer needs and business requirements into scalable digital solutions.
As ARC's subject matter expert for user experience, accessibility, design systems and front-end standards, the UX/UI Designer & Front-End Developer will lead the development and governance of the Design System, ensuring consistency, usability and scalability across current and future products. Working closely with Product, Engineering and AI teams, the role will help shape the future evolution of ARC’s Digital Solutions and wider technology solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Lead user research activities through interviews, workshops, surveys, usability testing and customer-feedback analysis.
- Create user journeys, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes and polished interface designs.
- Own and evolve the Design System, establishing consistent, accessible and scalable UI standards.
- Translate complex customer and business needs into intuitive product experiences that deliver measurable value.
- Build responsive, maintainable and production-ready front-end solutions using modern web technologies.
- Develop reusable UI components and support the modernisation of ARC Digital Product Portfolio and future digital platforms.
- Collaborate throughout the software development lifecycle with Product Managers, Software Engineers, AI Engineers and Test Engineers.
- Design clear experiences for AI-enabled workflows, intelligent automation and emerging product capabilities.
- Champion design thinking, usability, accessibility and continuous improvement across ARC.

What you’ll bring
We are looking for a creative, hands-on designer and developer who can move comfortably between customer discovery, interface design and front-end delivery.
Essential experience
- A degree in Computer Science, Digital Design, User Experience, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least five years’ experience in UX/UI design, product design, front-end development or a comparable role.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating both UX/UI design and front-end engineering capability.
- Commercial experience designing and developing modern web applications.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma, wireframing, prototyping and interface design, plus experience with Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent tools.
- Experience creating and maintaining design systems and reusable component libraries.
- Strong HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery skills, with experience in a modern framework such as Vue.js.
- Experience integrating front-end applications with APIs and backend services, with an understanding of .NET architecture and API-driven applications.
- Practical knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and usability best practice.
- Experience working in Agile delivery teams and collaborating with Product Managers across the product lifecycle.

It would be an advantage if you also have
- A postgraduate qualification in Computer Science, UX Design or a related discipline.
- Experience with Azure-hosted applications, Azure DevOps or GitHub.
- Experience in medical devices, healthcare, life sciences or another regulated industry.
- Experience designing AI-enabled products and digital workflows.
- Experience migrating legacy systems to modern front-end architectures.
- Experience facilitating customer workshops, product discovery and usability sessions.
