Job Title

Responsibilities
- Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for our digital platforms.
- Collaborate with developers and product managers to understand product requirements and user needs.
- Conduct user research to optimize user experience.
- Continuously improve user interfaces based on user feedback and requirements.
- Use HTML, Tailwind, CSS, and Vanillla JavaScript to implement and optimize UI/UX.
- Implement production-ready front-end code within existing applications and shared component libraries, following version control, code review, and release practices.
- Manage and optimize design assets and components to ensure consistency and maintainability.
- Modify and adapt pre-existing styles to ensure a cohesive design approach across multiple apps.
- Design and implement reusable interaction patterns for source-linked findings, high-density review tables, long-running workflow status, approval checkpoints, document handling and downloadable work products.
Experience and Skills
- Significant professional experience spanning both UI/UX design and hands-on front-end development, with a portfolio of shipped work demonstrating both.
- Strong hands-on experience implementing responsive, accessible interfaces with HTML, TailwindCSS, and vanilla JavaScript.
- Experience working with git, code review workflows, and CI/CD pipelines (ideally Azure DevOps).
- Experience implementing UI within server-rendered web applications and template-based component systems, in addition to or instead of single-page-application frameworks.
- Familiarity with hypermedia or server-driven UI frameworks, such as Datastar or HTMX, including reactive interfaces updated via server-sent events.
- Familiarity with front-end testing and quality practices, including accessibility validation (WCAG) and cross-browser debugging.
- Strong understanding of user interface design principles and the design process.
- Ability to collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of software development principles and agile methodologies.
- Experience in building reusable UI components and style guides, and adapting and standardizing an existing design language across multiple applications.

Compensation
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York and California, Freshfields is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the States of New York and California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $190,000 to $260,000.
