Hourly Rate - £14.12
We are looking for an enthusiastic Library & Information Officer to join our team on a casual basis.
Role Overview
As a Casual Library & Information Officer you will ensure the daily operation of library services across West Dunbartonshire, assisting library users to access a variety of resources, activities and support in a friendly and courteous manner.
Key Requirements
We aim to give excellent customer care so you should be a good communicator and have recent experience of working in a customer facing role with an outgoing, friendly and courteous manner.
We use ICT to manage and deliver our services so you will need to have a working knowledge of ICT, to the level of ECDL or equivalent.
The Libraries team manages eight Public Libraries, five School Libraries as well as a Mobile Library and a Home Delivery service. Libraries encourage reading, inspire creativity and support lifelong learning through free access to books and other physical and digital resources, computers and information. Our wide portfolio of activities embrace all age ranges and include baby yoga, baby massage, Bookbug, Storytime, primary and secondary school events, computer classes, author talks and literature festivals.

Libraries are an integral part of the local authority in meeting its statutory duties, improvement targets and local outcome improvement objectives. There is close liaison with a number of Council departments and external partners to meet local and national priorities.
Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Responsibilities
The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.
Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
