Job Description
Are you an experienced HR professional who wants to make a real impact at a strategic level?
We are looking for a People and Change Partner to join our Strategic HR team and help shape the future of our workforce, services and organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a role that connects people practice, workforce planning and organisational change. You will work closely with senior managers, services and colleagues across the Council to develop practical, people-focused solutions that support service priorities and help deliver positive outcomes for our communities.
As a People and Change Partner, you will provide strategic HR and change support across a varied portfolio. You will use your professional expertise, workforce insight and relationship-building skills to support service redesign, workforce planning, employee relations, organisational development and change activity. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
