Funeral Service Operative (Casual Hours)

Burgess & Harper Funeral Directors - Wolverhampton

Salary: £13.00 per hour

Location: Burgess & Harper Funeral Directors - Wolverhampton

About Us

At Funeral Partners, we offer a sensitive, professional service to the families in our care, and we are leading the way in setting new standards of excellence within the profession.

The Opportunity

Burgess & Harper Funeral Directors - Wolverhampton are currently looking for a casual Funeral Service Operative. The hours are varied, and there is the opportunity to fit the role in around your other commitments.

Calm and professional, our Funeral Operatives play a vital role in our service and are often the first members of the team to meet our families. A good Funeral Service Operative will be able to provide reassurance to families that we will take good care of their loved ones whilst we prepare them for their final journey.

In addition to bringing people's loved ones into our care, Funeral Service Operatives play an active role behind the scenes, working in the mortuary, fitting coffins, and dressing the deceased; as well as participating in funeral services, pallbearing, and helping to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Being a Funeral Service Operative can be challenging and rewarding, and no two days are quite the same.

Your duties will include driving company vehicles, so you'll need a full UK manual driving licence.

You'll also have a place on the out of hours, and on-call rota, which will provide an opportunity to earn additional payments.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
