Senior DDR & FPGA Validation Engineer
Location: Farnborough, UK
We are currently supporting an exciting opportunity for a Senior DDR & FPGA Validation Engineer to join an innovative engineering team working on advanced modem and satellite communication platforms. This is a hands-on validation role focused on DDR3/DDR4, FPGA prototyping, high-speed digital interfaces and system bring-up. You will work closely with hardware, FPGA, software and PCB/SI teams to validate complex systems and drive products towards production readiness.
You will be involved in:
- Validating DDR3/DDR4 interfaces across functional, timing, electrical and performance requirements
- Developing detailed validation plans and performing timing, voltage, frequency and temperature margin analysis
- Debugging DDR training and calibration issues
- Performing read/write eye analysis and BER measurements
- Developing Verilog/SystemVerilog FPGA prototypes for modem subsystems
- Supporting FPGA bring-up and hardware/software co-validation
- Conducting board bring-up and system integration
- Validating high-speed interfaces including DDR, PCIe and USB
- Performing stress, reliability and production-readiness testing
- Supporting Signal Integrity / Power Integrity analysis, including eye diagrams, jitter, crosstalk and reflections
- Working with PCB and SI teams to optimise high-speed routing
- Developing automation using Python, C/C++ for test execution, data analysis and regression
- Analysing test results and driving issues through to root cause

What We're Looking For
- BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline
- 8+ years' experience in hardware/system validation, ideally with significant experience in DDR, FPGA or high-speed digital systems
- Strong knowledge of DDR3/DDR4 architecture and JEDEC standards
- Experience with memory controllers and DDR PHYs
- Experience validating modem, wireless or SoC platforms
- Strong understanding of high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, USB, Ethernet, MIPI, UFS, SPI or I2C
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment such as high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, JTAG, BERT, TDR and thermal chambers
- Experience with eye diagrams, BER, jitter and Signal Integrity analysis
- Strong Python and/or C/C++ scripting and automation skills
- Experience with automated regression frameworks and Git
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
- Comfortable working across hardware and software teams
