Valuation Analyst
Athla Capital Management
Location: Primarily remote, with regular in-person meetings in London and elsewhere in the UK
Employment type: Full-time

About the Role
Athla Capital Management is looking for a Valuation Analyst to join our Valuations team.
You will work on the analysis and preparation of valuation reports across different industries, company stages, purposes, and transaction contexts. Assignments include valuing private companies, shareholdings, individual share classes, other financial instruments, intellectual property, and other intangible assets.
The role may also involve supporting due diligence and financial analysis on potential transaction-related assignments.
We are looking for someone with the technical foundation and practical skills to contribute to live assignments and provide value from day one. You will receive training on Athla’s processes alongside ongoing guidance from senior colleagues.
This is a fast-paced and intellectually challenging role offering broad exposure to private markets, regular client interaction, and increasing responsibility. There will be an opportunity for career progression, subject to performance.
What You Will Do
- Analyse company accounts, management information, forecasts, and business plans to understand financial performance, commercial drivers, and risks
- Research companies, industries, listed peers, and relevant transactions to support valuation conclusions
- Build and review financial models using methods such as discounted cash flow, comparable companies, precedent transactions, net asset value, option pricing, and other methodologies and models as required
- Support and produce valuations of companies, shareholdings, financial instruments, intellectual property, and other intangible assets
- Prepare clear, concise, and well-supported valuation reports for tax, transaction, and shareholder matters
- Assist with due diligence and investment analysis, where required
- Attend client and management calls and correspond accordingly to understand client requirements, collate information, and discuss the engagement
- Monitor market developments and assess their implications for valuations
- Work closely with colleagues across multiple assignments, managing priorities, and meeting agreed deadlines

Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should hold a master’s degree in finance or accountancy, or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and capability through a relevant professional qualification or work experience.
We are interested in how you have applied your knowledge, not simply the qualifications you hold. You should be able to provide specific examples of financial analysis, modelling, valuation, or investment-related work, explaining your individual contribution, the judgement you exercised, and how your analysis was used.
Must have:
- A good understanding of financial statements and accounting principles
- Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
- Excellent written and verbal business English, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and simply
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, well-supported work
- The ability to question assumptions, identify inconsistencies, and exercise sound judgement
- A proactive approach and the ability to manage competing priorities under time-sensitive deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate professionally with colleagues, clients, and advisers
- A willingness to learn and a genuine interest in private companies, valuations, and investment markets
Beneficial:
- CFA experience in analysing private UK and US companies and/or ACA qualified. Alternatively, you might have become a Chartered Tax Adviser.
- Understanding of UK company law - if you are a qualified lawyer, that would also be an advantage.
- Familiarity with legal documents such as shareholders’ agreements, Articles of Association, and share subscription agreements, including how their terms affect shareholder rights and valuation
- An interest in listed companies and public markets and tax

Working at Athla
Our team includes business owners, former venture capital investors, and professionals involved in equity and debt fundraising. We have a friendly and supportive culture, with direct access to experienced colleagues and senior members of the team.
You will work from home most days but will be expected to attend regular in-person team and client meetings in London and elsewhere. Attendance at our daily team call on Microsoft Teams is required.
