Valuations Specialist — Credit & Illiquid Assets

This role sits within the valuation function and is focused on the independent valuation of private, illiquid credit positions.

The core of the role is oversight of the third-party valuation providers who value these positions independently: challenging their outputs, understanding the drivers behind them, and owning the internal view that sits alongside. You will build and maintain the valuation models that support that challenge, assess valuation risk across the book, and attend and present to Valuation Committee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Valuation modelling: Build and maintain valuation models for illiquid credit and private positions, ensuring methodology remains appropriate as positions and market conditions evolve.
  • Valuation risk and scenario analysis: Identify and articulate key valuation risks and sensitivities across the book and run scenario analysis to frame the range of reasonable outcomes on the more judgemental positions.
  • Third-party provider oversight: Manage the relationship with the external valuation firms who independently value the portfolio. Review and challenge their methodologies, assumptions and outputs and resolve differences between their marks and internal view.
  • Corporate restructures: Value positions through restructuring processes where capital structure, recovery assumptions and timing drive the outcome.
  • Valuation Committee: Prepare materials for and present at the Valuation Committee, explaining the basis of marks and defending judgements to a senior audience.
  • Governance and documentation: Maintain a clear, well-documented audit trail behind valuations, supporting internal stakeholders, audit and the wider control framework.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
