The Value Stream Leader

The Value Stream Leader is accountable for leading the team in delivering against all KPIs including safety, quality, delivery and cost across the value stream.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced people leader to drive operational performance, develop talent and lead continuous improvement initiatives within a growing manufacturing environment.

This position reports to the Senior Operations Manager and is part of the Operations team located in Cardiff and will be an on-site role.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach and develop a manufacturing team, creating a culture focused on safety, quality, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Take ownership of operational performance across your value stream, ensuring delivery against key objectives including safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost.
  • Drive performance management, employee development and training activities, supporting supervisors and associates to achieve their full potential while building a highly engaged and high-performing team.
  • Lead cross-functional problem-solving initiatives, partnering with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain and other support functions to deliver sustainable improvements.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence principles to improve productivity, quality and team performance within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Lead and deliver improvement projects, ensuring successful implementation, adoption and long-term sustainability.
  • Champion change management initiatives, bringing teams through change while maintaining engagement, collaboration and operational performance.

Who You Are

  • Degree qualified in a scientific, engineering or related discipline, or possess significant experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of coaching, developing and motivating teams to achieve strong operational results.
  • Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment where quality, compliance and safety standards are critical.
  • Demonstrated success applying Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, Six Sigma, DBS or equivalent methodologies to drive measurable business improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions and influence at all levels of the organisation.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of how operational performance impacts business results.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience using quality, EHS or manufacturing systems such as Veeva, Gensuite, Magic or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, particularly Oracle.
  • Experience within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
