Driver Hire Edinburgh City are currently recruiting reliable and professional Van Drivers for a variety of ad-hoc driving opportunities across East Lothian and the surrounding areas.

This is a great opportunity for experienced van drivers looking for flexible work, whether you’re looking to pick up extra shifts, work around other commitments or simply want the freedom of ad-hoc driving.


🚚 The Role

As a Van Driver, Your Duties May Include

  • Driving a 3.5T van safely and responsibly
  • Completing local and regional deliveries and collections
  • Carrying out multi-drop deliveries where required
  • Loading and unloading goods
  • Ensuring goods are handled safely and securely
  • Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects
  • Completing delivery paperwork accurately
  • Providing professional and friendly customer service
  • Ensuring deliveries and collections are completed safely and on time

🕒 Working Hours

  • Ad-hoc shifts available
  • Typical start times from 6:00am–7:00am, depending on the assignment
  • Minimum 8 hours guaranteed per shift
  • Shifts available depending on client requirements and your availability
  • Opportunities to pick up additional shifts when available

💷 Pay Rates

PAYE

  • £13.00 per hour
  • £17.32 per hour after 8 hours

PAYE Advanced

  • £14.57 per hour
  • £19.42 per hour after 8 hours

✅ What We’re Looking For

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Previous van driving experience preferred
  • Maximum of 9 penalty points
  • No DD, DR, CD, DG or IN endorsements
  • Comfortable with manual handling
  • Reliable, punctual and professional
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Flexible and available to work ad-hoc shifts
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work
