Skilled Van Technician
Due to continued growth, we’re looking for a Skilled Van Technician to join our experienced workshop team at our Portsmouth site.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced technician to join a professional and growing team, working with modern vans and light commercial vehicles and the latest diagnostic technology.
We’re looking for someone with strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic experience who takes pride in delivering high-quality work. You don’t need to already hold an MOT Tester qualification – if you’re not currently qualified but are willing to undertake the relevant training, we’ll support you in gaining this.
Other duties may be required of the post holder in addition to those listed above and below, to ensure that the requirements of the business are met at all times.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm, i.e. 40 hours per week, 1 hour lunch break (unpaid).
- Saturday work may be required, paid at 1.5 times normal rate
Salary
Dependent on experience (will be discussed at interview stage)
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on vans and light commercial vehicles.
- Performing complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic diagnostics and repairs.
- Ensuring all work is completed accurately, efficiently, and to manufacturer standards.
- Working collaboratively with the workshop team to meet customer expectations.
- Carrying out MOT testing where qualified, with training available for the right candidate.
- Keeping up to date with the latest vehicle technology, systems, and diagnostic equipment.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and professional working environment.

Ideally, We Are Looking For:
- Strong experience in complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic diagnosis and repair.
- Previous experience working with vans or light commercial vehicles.
- Electric Vehicle (EV) trained.
- Air conditioning qualification preferred.
- MOT Tester qualification (Class 4/5/7) is desirable, but not essential – full training will be supported for the right candidate.
- Previous franchised main dealer experience, ideally with Fiat or other Stellantis brands.
- Master Technician level within a franchised dealer network is desirable.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
